Broadband's Latin future

Why should broadband providers care about Latin America? After all, Central and South America have fewer than 300,000 subscribers; the number of phone and cable lines that can support broadband is limited; and Latin American households are less likely than those in more developed countries to be able to afford broadband service.

The take-away
Broadband providers should care about Latin America because the percentage of higher-income households with broadband access is relatively high there and because the number of subscribers could grow by more than 100 percent annually in the next few years.
